The Fading Hues by Tim Yip

The Fading Hues

2002, Australia
Print on Hahnemuhle Baryta Paper (framed), 80 x 57.6 cm

“While working as the art director for Double Vision, a film directed by Chen Kuo-fu, I traveled to Australia for location scouting. During the trip, I visited a local farm and took numerous photographs. This particular cabbage, originally green, took on a striking purple hue under the effect of light at the moment of shooting. It was a breathtaking sight — tattered yet ethereal, exuding an otherworldly aura.” - Tim Yip

This work is part of MIRROR OF THE META: Incredible Reality, a solo exhibition at Asprey Studio by Hong Kong-born artist and art director Tim Yip. The exhibition explores parallel dimensions of reality where myth, memory and technology meet. It offers an intimate, contemplative encounter with Yip’s sculptural works, photography, and a sculptural reinterpretation of a traditional Chinese dress — each piece reflecting the artist’s enduring fascination with how imagination shapes our experience of the world.
