Each sculpture is created entirely in-house by master silversmiths at the Asprey Studio Atelier in Kent, England, through a multi-stage process combining traditional silversmithing with modern techniques. Each sterling silver sculpture is handcrafted, reflecting over 500 years of excellence in British silversmithing. The recent inclusion of the silver allied trades on the Red List of Endangered Crafts reflects the declining number of skilled practitioners and the fragility of the specialist supply chains that support the discipline. These practices — requiring years of training and involving specialist hand processes — remain essential to the production of fine silverwork and cannot be replicated through mass-production methods. Through its practice, Asprey Studio actively contributes to their preservation while advancing the discipline through the thoughtful integration of contemporary technologies.

Beginning with a detailed sketch inspired by Marvel’s comic archives, the crafting process takes between two and six months depending on the character’s complexity. Every piece is meticulously crafted and finished by hand to capture the personality and power of each character.

The digital artworks are hand-sculpted and animated frame by frame by Asprey Studio’s creative team - a process that takes months as opposed as the immediacy of the digital - using Marvel’s extensive comic book archive as the foundation to reimagine each character in 3D.

Once approved by Marvel, every piece is refined with textures, colours, and dynamic environments inspired by classic comic art and hand-painted scenes referencing Renaissance traditions — merging art historical and digital techniques in a contemporary mixed-media approach.
