Hulk (Black & White) - Digital artwork + redeemable sculpture
As part of Marvel's Avengers: Asprey Studio Editions, this artwork reinterprets the Hulk, capturing his immense strength and distinctive visual identity through a black-and-white digital composition.
The Editions explore the graphic qualities of Marvel's characters through line, form, texture and movement. By removing colour, the artworks place greater emphasis on silhouette, shading and the details of each character's design. The monochromatic treatment also references Marvel UK's The Mighty World of Marvel, launched in 1972 as a weekly comic magazine featuring predominantly black-and-white adaptations of American Marvel stories.
Each artwork begins with in-depth research into Marvel's comic book archive. Asprey Studio's artists then spend months digitally sculpting and modelling the character, developing its textures and applying rigging and frame-by-frame animation to create a detailed three-dimensional animated artwork.
The Hulk
A massive dose of gamma radiation transformed brilliant but meek scientist Bruce Banner into the jade giant known as the Hulk. Often misunderstood, he uses his immense strength to fight the forces of evil, establishing himself as one of Marvel's most powerful heroes.
